DAMIETTA, Egypt:  Clashes between Muslim Brotherhood members and the people of Basarta village in Damietta led to the burning of Brotherhood homes.

The people of Basarta village reported Friday that Muslim Brotherhood members attacked them after Friday prayers, on their way back from a demonstration supporting the military and police. Clashes between them resulted in five injuries, according to eyewitnesses.

The people of Basarta responded on Saturday by burning Muslim Brotherhood houses and shops. They also prevented fireman from putting out the fires as a form of revenge against the Brotherhood. The firemen eventually managed to suppress the fires, and security forces have started investigations.
