CAIRO: The Ministry of Irrigation continued its campaign for the third consecutive day to remove encroachments built on waterways, Minister of Irrigation Mohamed Abdel Muttalib said on Thursday.

There will be periodical patrols to inspect all water banks, canals, waterways, and the Nile River to remove any encroachments before they escalate as an urgent solution to the increased cases of infringements. The ministry coordinated with Menoufia to remove a property in violation of the minister’s decision not to establish buildings on waterways.

The ministry launched a campaign on Wednesday to remove encroachments on Ismailia Canal in collaboration with Qalyubia Security Directorate, which removed 12 cases.

The ministry will complete the project to develop Ismailia canal to increase its share of water from 19 million cubic meters per day to 23 million. This increase will meet the increased demands of water in the governorates, especially during the summer season.
