CAIRO: Minister of Finance Hany Kadry said Thursday that the ministry’s top priorities are stimulating economy, solving unemployment, amending energy subsidies and applying minimum wages.

Kadry said that the social equity unit at the Ministry of Finance would boost its work in the upcoming period through launching new projects and developmental programs to achieve the social equity between citizens in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Solidarity.

Over the new budget, the ministry will take into account the constitutional entitlements for increasing education, health and scientific research expenditures, he said.

The new strategy will be to promote the decentralization of the ministry and decline control of the senior leadership on decision-making processes, he said.

For the joint enterprises, the ministry is going to bid four projects for public-private partnerships.

The minister said that these projects would include the Safaga port, the technological center in Maadi, a river bus over the Nile in Cairo and modernizing real estate registration.

A fifth project, developing Abu Rawash’s sewage cleaning station to increase its capacity to 1.6 million cubic meters daily, will be open for bids next August.
