CAIRO: Amending the political rights law to prevent Hosni Mubarak and Mohamed Morsi from running for presidency is unconstitutional, Sayed Shaaban, assistant secretary general of the Arab Lawyers Union, told Youm7 Friday.
Preventing certain people from running for presidential elections should be based on general principles, according to Bahaa Abu Sha, the deputy head of the Wafd Party.
Sha added that principles had to be made before amending the political rights law.
“Neither Mubarak nor any member of his family will run for presidency” said Farid al-Deeb, Mubarak’s lawyer.
