BAGHDAD: An Iraqi army commander was killed and four guards were injured in a bomb explosion that targeted his convoy in north Baquba, 55 km east to the Iraqi capital, on Saturday.

An explosive charge planted on the side of the road went off as the motorcade drove by, a police source said.

A security force sealed off the area as ambulances moved the injured to hospital and the dead to the forensic authority, the source added.
