JEDDAH:  Egyptian-Saudi relations are the cornerstone of building a new Arab system, presidential media adviser Ahmed el-Meslemany said Saturday.

Cairo and Riyadh agree on the importance of facing regional and international ambitions, Meslemany said in press statements following his meeting with adviser to the Saudi king Prince Mansour bin Nasser in Jeddah.

He pointed to an Egyptian-Saudi agreement on restructuring the Arab system to cope with international regime changes.

Meslemany had praised Riyadh’s decision to blacklist the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist group, stressing that Egypt strongly supported Saudi Arabia’s efforts to fight terrorism.

It appears to me that Egypt and Saudi Arabia are the cornerstones of efforts to turn back the clock and reestablish an era of peaceful oppression.
