Development of Abdel Wahab Theater cost 35 million EGP

ALEXANDRIA, Egypt: Minister of Culture Mohamed Saber Arab visited the Mohamed Abdel Wahab Theatre in Alexandria on Sept. 28 to check the development plan of the theater, which has cost around 35 million EGP (U.S. $5 million).


The development plan includes enclosing the main hall so that performances can run year round, expanding the auditorium to accommodate and audience of 600, adding a library with spaces to listen and watch media, building rehearsal spaces, and creating a specialized hall for film screenings, according to the head of the Artistic House for Folk and Performing Arts, Medhat Fahmy.

Arab and the governor of Alexandria, Tarek el-Mahdy, visited several cultural sites in Alexandria: el-Shatby Cultural Palace, Beram el-Tonsy Theatre, el-Anfoshy Cultural Palace and the Cultural Palace for Artistic Taste in Sidi Basher, of which the minister said he found a complete change in the form, management and the performances.
