Contract for purchasing new weapons for arming police signed: minister

SHEBEIN EL-KOM, Egypt: A contract for purchasing new weapons from abroad for arming policemen has been signed, Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim said Saturday.

The contract targeted purchasing 50,000 various pieces, Ibrahim added.

The minister said the budget allocated for health treatment of police personnel has been increased to EGP 30 millions annually.

Ibrahim’s remarks came amid his meeting with the the police officers and personnel at the Menoufia Security Directorate headquarters, asserting the importance of being always on alert to counter any criminal act.

Ibrahim conducted a sudden inspection of security conditions in Menoufia governorate.
