CAIRO: Minister of Defense Field Marshal Abdel Fatah al-Sisi and Chief of Staff Sedky Sobhy put a wreath of flowers on the Unknown Soldier Memorial in Cairo on Sunday to commemorate the national day of Martyrs and Veteran Warriors.

The Egyptian Army celebrates the Martyr Day and the Veteran Warrior Day  on March 9 to commemorate the soldiers who died during War of Attrition. It also coincides with the commemoration of  the death of General Abdel Moneim Ryad , the former Chief of Staff, who was killed by Israeli troops in Sinai while checking the Egyptian Front.

Sisi assigned field army leaders to put wreaths of flowers on the Unknown Soldiers memorials in all governorates, according to the Armed Forces’ official Facebook page.

The military Forces would provide the martyrs’ relatives all kind of care, head of the Veteran Warrior Society Nabil Khamesy said in a press conference on Saturday.  Public training exercises will be performed and the martyrs’ relatives and the war-injured people would be honored through the governorates in Egypt.
