TEHRAN, Iran: Iran’s Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Sunday that his country is ready to solve Syria crisis in cooperation with the European Union, IRNA news agency reported.
Speaking to EU foreign policy Chief Catherin Ashton in Tehran, Larijani said Iranian Majlis specialized commissions are closely monitoring all issues relating to foreign policy and national security.
To solve Syria crisis, there is no need for such options as the use of military and the arming and mobilizing of extremists and terrorists, he said, calling for settling the problem peacefully and through negotiations.
He said recent nuclear developments have been studied in many meetings attended by Majlis deputies.
On Iran-EU relations, Larijani said the West did not abide by its commitments in exchange for Iran’s good intention and now the time has come for the European Union and the G5+1 to take concrete actions sincerely to meet common objectives.
Larijani said the Islamic Republic of Iran has done much in connection with restoration of peace and tranquility to the region, including Afghanistan and Iraq, promising that his country is determined to continue good cooperation with the EU to settle Syria’s crisis.
