CAIRO: Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy received Monday a delegation from the UN-affiliated Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People (CEIRPP), according to a ministry press release.
During the meeting, Fahmy praised the role of the CEIRPP in fighting to maintain the basic rights of the Palestinians in deciding their fate and building their own independent state, said the spokesperson for the foreign ministry Badr Abdel Atty in the release.
Abdel Atty added that Fahmy stressed during the meeting the importance of complying with all terms of the peace process, as it represents the principles of the international legitimacy, which cannot be changed.
Additionally, Fahmy also said that it is important that the ongoing discussion between the Palestinian and the Israeli sides lead to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with its capital East Jerusalem on the 1967 borders.
Additionally, Abdel Atty said that the head of the CEIRPP expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s historic role in supporting the Palestinian issue.
