ARISH, Egypt: Unknown gunmen attacked security forces stationed in Arish, the capital of North Sinai, on Sunday leaving one soldier and a passerby girl injured, Youm7 reported.
The 15-year old girl was shot in the neck. She was transferred to Arish public hospital in critical condition, an official told Youm7, while the soldier was treated at the military hospital.
Security forces undermined the attempt of an armed man to shoot one of the soldiers, and fired gunshots. A military helicopter was send to the incident location to scan the area.
The attack coincides with security operations the Arish area in which authorities arrested four suspects, a security source said to Youm7. These operations aim to stop attacks on police and army forces, and trace the hideouts of gunmen.
