CAIRO: Al-Azhar Park in Cairo will host the 6th round of the Cairo Jazz Festival from March 13th through 16th, in cooperation with Jazz bands and artists from Japan, Czechoslovakia, Morocco, Switzerland,the Netherlands, and others.
On Thursday, the Urban Trio band will perform on at 7 p.m., with Egyptian artist Noha Fekry, in cooperation with the Czech embassy. The Oam Band from Morocco will also play, as well as the Egyptian Masar Egbary, and the Kaz Okumura Trio in cooperation with the Japanese Organization.
The festival media coordinator Marwa Refaat told The Cairo Post Tuesday that photography workshops and puppet crafts will run Friday the 14th, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the Swiss bands Vein and Holler My Dear will perform at 4 p.m.
Refaat said that the bands selection reflects different cultures and styles and will enrich the festival by merging modern and classic musical.
The festival schedule includes, according to Refaat, the Portuguese Karavayio, the Dutch Yuri Honing, Dina al-Wadidi, Ramy Attallah, and Nabil Khemir from Tunisia.
The festival’s final concert will be by the Egyptian musician Omar Khairat on March 16.
