KHARTOUM: Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy stressed that post-revolution Egypt is determined to regain its major role in the African continent regardless of the African Union’s decision to suspend Egypt’s activities at the time being.
Egypt will never be absent from Africa, Fahmy told MENA before leaving Sudan back to Egypt after attending a meeting by the Sahel and Sahara Community.
He said Egypt will play more of a role in Africa, expressing belief that the AU will revoke its decision on Egypt after the presidential elections.
He said the community’s meeting was so positive, saying all participating countries showed serious intentions to address the important issues in the region. He said the meetings addressed terrorism as being a main issue harming the security and interests of many regional countries.
The meetings lauded the road map plan in Egypt and condemned all terrorist attempts to jeopardize Egypt, the minister said.
