CAIRO: A delegation from the 6th of April Movement met with political science professor at Cairo University Dr. Hassan Nafaa on Thursday to discuss the current political scene in Egypt and ways to solve the current crisis, Mahmoud Basha, a member of the movement’s political bureau, told The Cairo Post.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss initiatives presented by Nafaa and the movement to end deep divisions in the country and resolve political, economic and social problems after three years of conflict, Basha said.
“We are calling for a patriotic reconciliation with all political factions similar to what occurred during the 18 days before the ouster of (former President Hosni) Mubarak,” he said. “Each party has to accept the other, and agree upon human values.”
He added that there must be a “state of law” present in order to move forward with such goals. The movement has been in contact with all other political forces to put an end to the crisis, and Thursday’s meeting will be followed by other meetings, he added.
According to a statement released by the movement after the meeting, the two sides agreed it was a necessity to work to solve the current crisis in order to end polarization.
