6 soldiers killed in assault on Shubra el-Kheima checkpoint

QALYUBIA, Egypt: An assault on a security checkpoint in Shubra el-Kheima Saturday morning left six soldiers dead, Qalyubia Security Directorate head Mohamed Yousri said.

Yousri added, in statements to Youm7, that anonymous armed assailants opened fire on a security unit in Shubra el-Kheima, Qalyubia, leaving an unidentified object suspected to be a bomb.

The bomb squad has been deployed to inspect the site of the incident, Yousri continued.

Further, according to a security source, the five soldiers who died were transported to hospitals, and the number of remaining injuries is currently being collated.
