CAIRO: Minister of Defense Abdel Fatah al-Sisi issued an exceptional notice Monday evening that includes a reshuffling of major generals in the Armed Forces and the Supreme Council of Armed Forces (SCAF).

Ahmed Wasfy was appointed to head of the Armed Forces Training Authority to replace Ibrahim Nesouhy, and Mohamed el-Shahat was appointed leader of the Second Field Army succeeding Wasfy, reported Youm7.

The reshuffle also included the appointment of Mostafa al-Sherif to assistant minister of defense, leaving his position as head of Administration for Soldier Affairs. Mohamed Arafat  was appointed head of Inspection Authority, and General Staff Yehia al-Beyaly replaced Arafat as head of the South Military Area.

Similar changes are expected to continue in the coming months.

A military source told Youm7 that these changes have no political or security motivation but are standard annual promotions for the military and the SCAF.

The source said that additional changes are expected to include Director of Military Police Gamal Shehata and leader of the Third Field Army Osama Roshdy Askar.
