ARISH, Egypt: Nine suspects have been arrested in a security crackdown in North Sinai, security sources said on Monday.

The operation targeted south Arish, Sheikh Zuwayed and Rafah cities.

Twenty-seven huts and houses used by “terrorist” elements as platforms to launch attacks against army and police forces were destroyed in the campaign.

Also, seven smuggling tunnels on the border between Egypt and Gaza were demolished, the sources added.
