First Austrian of Egyptian origin nominated as MP
Moufid Alkladieus

CAIRO: Moufid Akladieus became the first Austrian of Egyptian origin to run for parliament after the Austrian People’s Party announced his candidacy on Sunday.

Akladieus, 61, was born in Cairo and holds a Ph.D. in medical sciences.

Kimi, a Coptic human rights organization in Austria, called on the Egyptian and Arab community in Austria to support Akladieus in order to voice their concerns in parliament.

Akladieus aims at the integration of the Egyptian and Arab communities within Austrian society, Kimi in a statement.

Kimi added that it is an honor for the Egyptian community to have one of them nominated as an MP.
