CAIRO: The presidential campaign of Hamdeen Sabbahi said Monday that it would announce Sabbahi’s platform in the coming days, in a statement on its official Facebook page.
The campaign is about finish the first draft of Sabbahi’s electoral program in the coming days, according to the statement, before it will be widely discussed by number of experts in various fields during the election period to improve the program.
Furthermore, it refuses granting immunity to the decisions of the Supreme Electoral Committee (SEC) as stated by the new presidential election law issued by interim President Adly Mansour in March 2014.
Sabbahi demands the immediate release of all revolutionary young detainees who have not been involved in inciting or conducting violence acts, the statement said, adding that his firm stance on political detainees would not change.
The Popular Current founder participated in a press conference held on Mar. 14 at the Press Syndicate’s headquarters demanding the immediate release of the detained revolutionary youth. He left early over clashes erupted between his supporters and number of youth who chanted against Sabbahi and accused him of following the military, according to Masrawy news portal.
The Arab Network for Human Rights Information (ANHRI) issued a statement on Mar. 17 denouncing “the assault of Sabbahi’s supporters on a number of photographers and journalists, during their coverage of clashes between Sabbahi’s supporters and opponents.”
