CAIRO: Cairo governor Galal Mostafa confirmed taking legal action concerning illegally building on lands designated for agricultural use in Maadi.
Mostafa said the aggrieved inhabitants should turn to the general prosecution to prove that the apartments are built on agricultural lands to sue the real estate sellers. He said it is important to ensure the safety of licenses of condominiums before any purchase.
Mostafa ordered the removal encroachments of 22 buildings built on 34 feddans, 16 of which will be removed.
He said that encroachment campaigns will include all Cairo neighborhoods and added that it is not the first time for the governorate to remove buildings by decision of supreme constitutional court . It also removed 13 infractions in 2010 but encroachments spread again in the recent lawless transitional phase in Egypt.
