NGOs welcome to monitor elections without interfering in internal affairs: Labib

CAIRO:  The Presidential Election Committee (PEC) invited national and international NGOs to monitor the upcoming presidential elections. The Supreme Elections Commission (SEC) issued a statement on March 21 that the date for presidential elections was yet been decided, according to State Information Service (SIS.)

The statement also said that the database for voters is being updated for those who turn 18 will be added and those who died will be removed from electoral lists. The lists will exclude ineligible voters who have been banned from practicing their political rights according to the law, according to SIS.

Minister of Local and Administrative Development Adel Labib announced that the government is ready for the upcoming presidential elections and that it will be transparent. He said that national and international NGOs are welcome to monitor the elections without interfering in Egypt’s internal affairs, according to SIS.

Labib also said a number of state employees are being selected to assist judges in the main and sub-committees. Polling stations will be equipped with computers and other modern equipments to facilitate elections process, according to SIS.
