CAIRO: Egyptian journalist Mayada Ashraf was killed on Friday while she was covering a Muslim Brotherhood demonstration in Ain Shams.
The demonstrations were against Field Marshal Abdel Fatah al-Sisi’s decision to run for president.
Ashraf was shot while she was covering the National Alliance for Supporting Legitimacy demonstration in Ain Shams and security forces dispersed them with teargas and gunshots, Masr al- Arabiya reported.
“Thugs attacked the demonstration with gunshots and Ashraf was shot in the midst. Others were also injured,” Masr al-Arabiya reported.
