Egypt records $2 bln surplus in balance of payments during 2013/2014 FY: CBE

CAIRO: Egypt’s Balance of Payments (BOP) registered an overall surplus of $2 billion during 2013/2014, a significant improvement compared to the $551.5 million deficit during the same period last year, according to an official statement issued by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).
The current account declined to hit $755.8 million against a deficit worth $4.9 billion, the CBE added in the statement.

The trade balance deficit, meanwhile, surged by 16.8 percent to reach about $15.4 billion, according to the CBE.
