Protests continue at Azhar and Ain Shams Universities

CAIRO: Protests continue at Al-Azhar and Ain Shams Universities Tuesday denouncing the clashes and the death of students during the past few days.

Pro-Muslim Brotherhood students at Azhar University set fire to the Faculty of Agriculture’s dean’s car. The faculty expereinced a state of chaos amid the intensified presence of security forces around the administration building, Youm7 reported.

Azhar University activated the university board’s decision issued on Monday to allow police officers onto the university campus.

Students organized human chains at Youssef Abbas Street denouncing the death of two students at the university on Sunday and protested against dismissing their friends that participated in the Monday protests.

Pro-Muslim Brotherhood students at Ain Shams University organized a march to the Ministry of Defense. They also organized a protest at the main gate of Ain Shams University denouncing the clashes that took place during the past week at al-Azhar University.

The students repeated chants supporting the Muslim Brotherhood amid the intensified presence of university administrative security to avoid clashes that may occur.

Protesting students blocked Al-Khalifa Al-Mamoun Street heading to the Ministry of Defense. Security forces intensified their presence there, blocked it off with barbed wire and provided forces with armor vehicles and combating riot vehicles.
