CAIRO: Security forces in Alexandria dispersed a Saturday night concert hosted by Al-Fan Midan and political activists at the Bayram el-Tunsi Theater, and arrested some of the concert organizers and activists who attended.
According to the Revolutionary Socialists and several other activist groups, Interior Ministry officers forcefully dispersed the concert and arrested several activists, attendees and the organizers.
The Egyptian Center for Economic & Social Rights reported that the detained were led to Bab Sharqi Security Station and a report was filed against them for holding a concert using loudspeakers without permission, but the detainees were released after filing police reports.
Naser al-Abd, Criminal Investigation Director said that the dispersal orders came from Alexandria Security Directorate head Amin Ezz Eddin, when he found a concert organized without security permission, reported Youm7.
