Report: Egypt’s inflation increases by 0.7 percent

CAIRO: The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics said in a report published Thursday that inflation in Egypt increased by 0.7 percent compared to its percentage in February.

The report added that the inflation rate rose during March due to the increase witnessed in the prices of meat and fish by 2.8 percent, fruits by 2.1 percent, vegetables by 1.8 percent and furniture by 0.5 percent.

The report signaled that the price of food and beverages increased by 1.3 percent in March.

The price of culture and entertainment increased by 13.1 percent compared to its percentage in March 2013, said the report. It added that such an increase contributed to 2.4 percent of the inflation rate.
