CAIRO: The Beheira prosecution sentenced 17 suspected Muslim Brotherhood members to detention pending investigation on charges of conspiracy to commit election fraud, reported Youm7.
The group was apprehended in Eitay al-Baroud City planning to make the upcoming presidential elections fail. They will be summoned to Damanhur prosecution on April 23.
The Muslim Brotherhood rejects the legitimacy of the interim government established on July 3, 2013, and the National Alliance to Support Legitimacy, which calls for the reinstatement of Mohamed Morsi, has said that its members will not participate in the election.
Egyptians will vote on presidential elections on 26 and 27 May and the results of the first round will be announced before June 6.
