CAIRO: Zewail city for Science and Technology announced on Saturday that its scientist succeeded in discovering the cause of neural dysfunction, according to their official website.
The new medical study was published on the prominent scientific magazine Nature Genetics on March 23, 2014.
The scientists, co-led by professor Sherif El-Khamisy at the Center for Genomics in Zewail City identified the first defect in the genetic pathway of individuals with impaired neural function.
The discovery can be employed in the future to cure various chronic diseases such as cancer. It also predicts potential neural diseases, as well as the progressive neural dysfunction associated with aging.
The scientists who discovered the neural dysfunction hope that they can be able to develop new drugs that can target this genetic pathway.
