CAIRO: The general secretary of the Muslim Brotherhood’s international organization said the group will not relocate their headquarters from London to Austria, denying a report published in the Daily Mail on Sunday.

The Daily Mail said the Brotherhood would move from London to Austria to avoid an inquiry into its activities set in motion by British Prime Minster David Cameron after announcing a joint MI5 and MI6 investigation into their activities.

Ibrahim Mounir told Anadolu Agency that he cannot imagine leaving Britain for another country.

Mounir said the Brotherhood’s administration is not actually based in London, and their office in London is used for member meetings.

“We do not need to move away from Britain, we did not commit crimes and we did not violate the law … the British authorities know that,” Mounir said.

He said they are ready to cooperate with the British government in its investigations.

The Muslim Brotherhood was designated as a “terrorist organization” in December 2013 by the Egyptian government.
