CAIRO: April 6 Movement announced it would organize a human chain on Wednesday in participation with other movements powers on October 6 Bridge, and stressed that they would resume demonstrations to repeal the protest law.

The law, issued in November 2013, provided Egyptian authorities the right to take strict measures against those who violate the peaceful nature of demonstrations, but also prohibits any demonstrations that do not have official permission from security forces; any potential gathering must request a permit from authorities at least 24 hours in advance.

The movement added in a Wednesday statement it is planning a demonstration before the presidential palace on April 26.

Movement founder Ahmed Maher told Youm7 that the movement would continue to put pressure on the law, that has a “negative impact on freedom.”

In March, April 6 launched a petition against the protest law that reached 405 signatures, with prominent figures signing the petition.
