CAIRO: International Ghanaian defender Jonathan Mensah will miss his home team match against Egypt in the African qualification for next summer’s World Cup. The Evian FC defender was injured in his team draw match against Bordeaux in the French league (Ligue 1). He was replaced in minute 46.
Mensah will need six weeks to recover from his injury, according to the Ghana soccer net website.
Ghana will suffer from Mensah’s absence in its next game against Egypt. It was scheduled for both African teams, Ghana and Egypt, to play October 15 in Baba Yara Stadium in Ghana.
The Ghanaian team suffers from many absences in defense positions. Mensah will join Ghana’s injury list. The team has already lost the experience of Isaac Vorsah, who suffers from a long-term injury.
“The Black Stars must beat the Pharaohs over the next two legs to win one of the five available qualification slots for Africa for next year’s World Cup, to be staged in Brazil,” according to Ghana’s soccer net website.
