CAIRO: Fifty-two suspects were arrested in the case of attacks on police stations’ public and private facilities, along with two arrests for violence, in six different Egyptian governorates, a senior security source told Youm7 today.
The security crackdown began mid-September and the 52 suspects were arrested in six governorates: Fayoum, Beni Suef, Minya, Dakahlia, Beheira, and North Sinai.
The suspects were in possession of four machine guns, three homemade firearms, four knives, an electric taser and 10 narcotic tablets.
The source said Minister of Interior Mohamed Ibrahim ordered security forces to intensify their efforts to arrest anyone who attacks or incites violence on police facilities, whether public or private property.
All suspects involved in attacking security forces or ordered to be detained by the public prosecution are wanted by the police, Ibrahim added.
