CAIRO: The campaigns of both presidential candidates Abdel Fatah al-Sisi and Hamdeen Sabbahi said they would draft a code of conduct for the upcoming elections.

Spokesperson of Sabbahi’s presidential campaign Emad Hamdy said that they will not submit any appeals against Sisi’s endorsements, and said that the campaign would announce its code of conduct after the finalized list of candidates from the High Presidential Elections Committee, following the close of the window to submit appeals.

He said that the campaign formed a committee to draft the code of conduct to commit its self with a number of ethical standards. He added that they will launch their code of conduct after announcing the final list of the presidential candidates.

Spokesperson of Sisi’s campaign Abdullah Al-Moghazy told Youm7 that the members of the campaign would not submit any appeals against Sabbahi’s endorsements in commitment to the code of conduct.

According to Youm7, Moghazy said that the former Minister of Defense called the members of his campaign not to insult the competitor and to respect him.

This is the first time candidates have announced such a code of conduct. The first round of elections is scheduled for May 26 – 27.
