SCAIRO: Thirty-one people were injured Thursday after a bus flipped over on the Safaga-Qena road.
Seven people are in critical condition and were transferred to Hurghada General Hospital, while the rest were transferred to Safaga Central Hospital according to director of Red Sea Ambulance Authority Dr. Hossam Gamil, reported Youm7.
The victims are students at the Hotel and Tourism Institute of Qena, Gameel added.
The accident occurred when a bus collided with a construction vehicle, a security source told Youm7.
A tourist bus also flipped over in the Zaafarana area on April 20, which resulted in death of four people.
Following the incident and in an effort to prevent traffic accidents, Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab appointed Minister of Tourism Hisham Zaazou to form a committee that would seek to discover methods of repairing roads to tourist destinations along the Red Sea.
The governor of the Red Sea also formed a committee on July 24, 2013 from the administration of traffic, administration of roads and bridges and city council of Ras Ghareb in the Red Sea to find out the reasons behind the numerous accidents that have taken place along Zafarana-Ras Ghareb road.
