Violent clashes erupt in Cairo and other governorates

CAIRO: One person was killed and three were injured Friday during the dispersal of pro-Muslim Brotherhood demonstrations in Alexandria, a security source told Youm7.

In Mohandiseen, clashes erupted between security forces and pro-Brotherhood protesters, resulting in the use of teargas and fireworks.

Demonstrations also took place in Giza’s Haram area, causing panic among some residents as protesters took to the streets and set several buildings on fire.

The demonstrators also blocked off Haram Street, and set fire to a number of cars, before residents managed to disperse them and reopen the road.

In Marg, violent clashes erupted between pro-Brotherhood protesters and residents with firearms, and random gunfire caused a truck to catch fire. Security forces had to fire tear gas bombs to control the clashes.

In Helwan, clashes erupted between pro-Brotherhood protesters and security forces, who fired teargas at the protesters after they were attacked with Molotov cocktails.

In Ain Shams, residents and protesters clashed, and security forces attempted to disperse the scuffle with teargas.

Pro-Brotherhood students at Al-Azhar University blocked Mostafa Nahass Road and threw rocks on security forces that fired teargas at them to reopen the road.

Two pro-Brotherhood marches took to the streets of Fayoum City chanting slogans against the police and army.

In Qalyubia, four residents were injured after they clashed with pro-Brotherhood protesters when they chanted anti-police and army slogans.

Residents in Minya chased pro-Brotherhood protesters before they mobilized after Friday prayer.
