Kerry asserts importance of Egypt-Ethiopia co-op

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia: U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, who concluded a three-day visit to Addis Ababa on Saturday, asserted the importance of cooperation between Egypt and Ethiopia, Ethiopian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Dina Mufti said on Tuesday. 

Mufti said that Ethiopia had delivered assurances to Kerry that its development projects do not aim to harm Egypt, Walta Information Center (WIC) reported.

The spokesperson said that Ethiopia assured to Kerry that the Ethiopian projects “will benefit other countries.”

Ethiopia is determined to build a series of dams in order to generate electricity, both for local consumption and export, the (WIC) said.
