CAIRO: In preparation for the forthcoming presidential elections, the April 6 Youth Movement launched a campaign against remnants of former President Hosni Mubarak’s regime, the Muslim Brotherhood and presidential candidate Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, titled “Our Youth Against You.”
April 6 member Sherif el-Rougy said the campaign opposes the presence of Sisi, remnants of the Mubarak regime and the Brotherhood in Egyptian politics.
“The campaign comes in the framework of the pre-presidential election preparations by the movement,” he told The Cairo Post Wednesday.
Rougy said the group is boycotting the elections, but of the two candidates it supports Hamdeen Sabbahi. The group is also allowing its members the freedom to make their own decision regarding the elections.
On April 28, the activities of the April 6 Youth Movement were banned by the Abdeen Court for Urgent Matters, a ruling denounced by several political figures.
