Metro movement suspended due to waste fire

CAIRO: A large fire broke out near a garbage pile beside Dar El-Salam electricity station near the first metro line in Cairo Thursday, temporarily halting metro service, Youm7 reported.

Mohamed Badawy, vice chairman for The Egyptian Company for Metro Management and Operation said train service resumed after fire brigades reached the location and put out the blaze.

Cairo Civil Protection Administration Director Mamdouh Abdel Hameed said that the fire did not cause any injuries among the passengers or in the metro, and the fire was controlled according to Medan Tahreer.
