RIYADH : Saudi Arabia suspended three mosque imams for ever for their affiliation with the Muslim Brotherhood and their contact with the group members in other Arab countries, Okaz newspaper out Monday reported.
The trio will not be allowed to lead worshipers or give any sermons in mosques or in any other religious assembly, the paper said quoting a reliable source.
The source declined to give more details but said the three imams, very well known in their areas, have committed major violations while being at the mosque’s podium or through social media websites.
“Mosques are not partisan platforms. They are set up for God worship.”
The source said that 76 other imams, teachers and university professors are being tightly monitored by the kingdom
