GAZA CITY: Two delegations from the two Palestinian rivals Fattah and Hamas met Tuesday in the Gaza Strip to discuss forming a national unity government.

Azzam al-Ahmad of Fatah’s Central Committee led the Fatah delegation while Hamas leader Mussa Abu Marzuq led the Gazan delegation.

The meeting is scheduled to cover other issues than suggesting technocrats to lead the unity government, Fatah spokesman Fayez Abu Eitta told MENA.

The desired government faces multiple challenges and responsibilities along with removing the side effects of division and holding legislative elections.

The two Palestinian rivals reached a reconciliation deal on April 23 ending seven years of bloody division that started in 2007.
