CAIRO: The Global Campaign to Return to Palestine will organize a cultural day Thursday at the Doum Cultural Foundation on the occasion of the annual anniversary of Nakba Day at 7 p.m.
May 15 marks the day when except for Gaza and the West Bank, most of the Palestinian territories were occupied by Israeli troops in 1948. This day is known as Nakba Day, or the day of catastrophe.
The day follows the May 14 anniversary of the Israeli declaration of independence after the British Mandate ended in 1948.
Under the slogan “Destination is Palestine,” the day’s program will screen three short films, in addition to a reading of poems by poet Ayman Massoud.
