CAIRO: A gas pipeline exploded in the southern area of Arish in North Sinai early Tuesday, Youm7 reported.
Witnesses said the fire could be seen from 40 kilometers away, Youm7 reported.
According to a Youm7 reporter in the Sinai, security forces said they suspect the attack was executed by “terrorists” who escaped, naming Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis, a militant group in the Sinai.
The pipeline extends from areas in central and southern Sinai to Jordan.
The gas company in charge of the pipeline closed all the valves, and the fire is expected to last for at least 10 hours, Youm7 reported.
