CAIRO: Fifteen armored vehicles supplied by the United Arab Emirates arrived at the Cairo airport Saturday and will be used as an asset in securing presidential elections Monday and Tuesday, CBC reported.

The vehicles were transported by two military planes and handed over to Egypt’s interior ministry Al-Watan reported.

Bombings and attacks targeting security personnel have surged since the ouster of former President Mohamed Morsi on July 3.

Violence erupted during the constitutional referendum in January and clashes are expected once more during the presidential election.
