CAIRO: The Cairo Criminal Court adjourned Sunday the trial of the political activist Alaa Abdel Fatah and 24 others in the case known as the Shura Council incidents to June 11 due to the absence of the judge over health issues, reported Al-Masry al-Youm.

Abdel Fatah and 24 others are charged with conducting illegal protests outside the Shura Council in November 2013. The defendants were protesting military trials for civilians and were dispersed and arrested under the regulations of the 2013 protest law.

On March 23, prominent political activist Abdel Fatah was released on a 10,000 EGP (U.S. $1,400) bail pending investigations into his case.

Abdel Fatah and the other defendants face charges of rallying, thuggery, inciting violence, resisting authorities and violating the protest law.
