CAIRO: Chief of the African Union election follow-up mission to Egypt Mohamed Al-Ameen said the elections will be followed by arrangements for restoring Egypt’s position in the African Union.

In statements to reporters following a meeting with Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy here on Sunday, Ameen said the mission has received necessary facilities provided by the Egyptian authorities to ease their mission and has not met any difficulties.

The mission will issue a report within two months and will hold a press conference in Cairo to expound preliminary remarks on the election process, he added.

He voiced hope that the Egyptian people would elect a president who can lead the country through this transitional phase and that Egypt would restore its position in the African Union.
