CAIRO: The General Organization of Cultural Palaces announced Monday the launch of the second festival of traditional and artistic crafts from June 2 until June 5.
The festival will be held in October 6 City and aims to protect and develop artistic and cultural crafts.
It is expected that the Head of Cultural Palaces Organization, Saad Abdel Rahman, will open the festival in the presence of senior journalists, public figures and people interested in art.
The festival will include exhibitions of Kilim rugs, pottery, Arabic calligraphy, Arabesque and stained glass.
It will also include daily workshops about crafts making with seminars and different artistic performances.
Also in the efforts of the organization to raise cultural awareness in Egypt, Rahman with the Governor of Sharqia, Saeed Abdel Aziz, opened a cultural palace there.
The palace includes a library, winter theatre, movie theatre and a room to learn music, in addition to a seminar hall.
They also opened a fine arts exhibition for 12 artists from the same governorate and it includes 40 artworks in photography, sculpting and other art forms.
Rahman also opened a book fair and called on library officials to make a list of books they need, he also assigned 5000 EGP to buy musical instruments.
