CAIRO: Satirist Bassem Youssef, MBC Masr channel and the Deutsche Welle network announced on Al Bernameg‘s Facebook page Friday that the popular satire show will not air a previously scheduled new episode Friday, May 30.
The two channels and the show’s team apologized for the announcement and promised to give more details at a later date.
Youssef, whose show was suspended last month because of mandated electoral silence during presidential elections, announced previously on his official Twitter account that the show would return May 30.
“We are preparing to return to the screen next week,” Youssef tweeted, adding that the episode would be a “special” one on elections.
However, Tuesday it was announced the presidential elections were extended for an extra day until Wednesday. Youssef shoots his show on Wednesdays and said he will suspend production on election days.
