CAIRO: An explosion took place Tuesday evening in the vicinity of a Sharqia government building in Zagazig, sparking fear among citizens, Al-Masry Al-Youm reported.

Security forces, along with bomb disposal experts, rushed to the scene and cordoned it off while bomb-sniffing dogs combed the area.

Security forces found four packs of pesticide and remnants of flares, and security camera footage revealed unidentified suspects placing an explosive device near the building and connecting it to a flare. They lit the flare, and then fled, Al-Masry Al-Youm reported.

In other news, clashes erupted Tuesday between security forces and pro-Muslim Brotherhood groups during the dispersal of an unscheduled pro-MB protest in Fayoum, Youm7 reported.

The clashes took place near the Muslim Youths Mosque in Fayoum, and coincided with the voting schedule.
