CAIRO: Judge Mohamed Khairy was shot in Banha, the capital of Qalyubia, while driving to the main polling station to deliver his station’s vote count, Sky News reported late Wednesday.

The Qalyubia security chief told CBC that Khairy was not being targeted specifically, but was attacked by unidentified assailants who fired at the police car he was driving.

Khairy made it to the station despite his injury, he added.
